Many people take a couple of daily doses of vitamins to maintain health, but as the University of Florida recently discovered, Acai Fruit could hold several healthy benefits, as well.
Found in the local regions of Brazil, the berry was regarded as a delicacy and used for it’s healing powers centuries before our discovery. Regarded as a “miracle” berry, the Acai is extremely dense in Fiber, it also contains high counts of: Vitamins B1, B2, and B3, Vitamins E and C, Potassium, and Calcium. All of these aid in several areas such as, digestion and skin tone. As if the abundant list of healthy side effects couldn’t grow any larger, Acai Berries are now being considered by cancer patients.
A Florida University study suggests that Acai Berries can actually be used to destroy and help fight off cancerous cells. Acai Berries have an extremely high count of EFA (Essential Fatty Acids) and high counts of Anti-Oxidants, as well. These anti-oxidants prevent our body’s “free-radicals”, hence stopping destruction of the body’s cells. Free-radical release is said to be one of the leading reasons for cancer in humans. The study also showed that the pulp of the berries actually aided in the self-destruction of up to 86% of leukemia cells.
Several different studies were produced at different locations, but the University of Florida served as one of the cornerstones in the anti-cancer breakthroughs.
”This study was an important step toward learning what people may gain from using beverages, dietary supplements or other products made with Acai berries”, said Stephen Talcott, assistant professor with Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. ”Acai berries are already considered one of the richest fruit sources of antioxidants.”
Though the study showed considerably wealthy benefits in fighting against leukemia cells, Talcott urged that the study was not solely intent on proving it’s findings.
“This was only a cell-culture model and we don’t want to give anyone false hope.” Said Talcott. “We are encouraged by the findings, however. Compounds that show good activity against cancer cells in a model system are most likely to have beneficial effects in our bodies.”
Hope aside, the berry and it’s benefits should still not be held accountable for curing cancer or any other ailment.
Though it is not certain when a cure-claim can be solidified, the Acai Berry is still used as a major part of daily supplemental health, and is highly recommended.
